York’s own Schulich School of Business and Deloitte are joining forces once again, as they announced their plans for the inception of a new and innovative laboratory. The Deloitte Cognitive Analytics and Visualization Lab is set to nurture advancements in the visualization and interpretation of large reserves of data.

Schulich and Deloitte intend to cultivate tomorrow’s leading talent in the field of analytics. Schulich was the first business school in Canada to offer a management degree in Business Analytics, renowned for its contribution in analytics research and education within the field.

Deloitte, conversely, has been a prominent member of the data analytics field, through guiding businesses in gaining a competitive edge.

“Establishing the state-of-the-art Deloitte Cognitive Analytics and Visualization Lab at Schulich will enable both of our organizations to continue providing world-class expertise in business analytics,” said Schulich Dean Dezsö J. Horváth.

The new lab will contribute to changing the business environment by delivering financial, social, and economic value.

“By sharing our industry experience, globally recognized analytics team, and ecosystem of resources—like our Greenhouse and relationships with Schulich—we know that we can develop the next generation of business analytic talent and business leaders faster together, in helping Canada improve,” said Anthony Viel, managing partner of Financial Advisory with Deloitte Canada.

The project aims to equip Canadians with the ever-growing needs subject to rapidly growing business, and the need to keep up with their competitors.

“Business analytics is a rapidly expanding field, and the Deloitte Cognitive Analytics and Visualization Lab will uncover the insights and innovation we need to not only distinguish our leaders on the world stage, but also drive Canada’s future prosperity,” stated Frank Vettese, managing partner and chief executive of Deloitte Canada.

The 800-square-foot lab will be equipped with cognitive, data analytics, and visualization technology, and will be available to students and faculty in Schulich’s Master of Business Analytics, Master’s-level, Executive MBA, MBA, and undergraduate business programs.

“Schulich is excited to work with Deloitte’s pioneering data analytics team to prepare future business leaders to visually interpret and communicate insights, generated by big data collections,” added Murat Kristal, director of Schulich’s Master of Business Analytics Program.
