A York staff member is under investigation after Jewish students approached Jewish advocacy organization B’nai Brith with allegations that lab technologist Nick Balaskas was spreading anti-Semitism on Facebook.
“We investigated these claims for ourselves and found them to be true,” says B’nai Brith campus advocacy coordinator Aidan Fishman. The Department of Human Resources at York launched an investigation, according to Fishman.
“York University takes all allegations regarding inequity and discrimination seriously,” says Barbara Joy of York media. “As such, upon learning of the concern, we took immediate steps to begin an investigation.”
Joy says she is unable to comment further on a confidential employee matter. Balaskas did not reply to requests for comment.
A press release posted to the Israel Students Association Facebook page commends B’nai Brith Canada for submitting the complaint and recounting some of Balaskas’ posts that have stirred controversy.
During the summer, Balaskas ran for a non-academic employee representative position on York’s Board of Governors. Concerns have arisen that outsider lobby groups have been trying to interfere in York’s internal politics.
Fishman dismisses these allegations, stating that B’nai Brith Canada is a Canadian Jewish human rights organization, not a lobby group.
“We make our services available to anyone who approaches us with complaints of discrimination or bigotry,” he says. “Given that Mr. Balaskas’ anti-Semitic activities were clearly not being addressed in the status quo, B’nai Brith felt justified in notifying the York administration of the problem on behalf of the students who approached us.”
“Mr. Balaskas was a candidate in the most recent election for York’s Board of Governors, but as far as we know, there is no real connection between the election and his anti-Semitic Facebook activity,” adds Fishman.
The goyim need to learn that only jews can say “lampshade”, “soap”, “gassed”, “war crime”, “shower” or “any word that begins with Z”. Any goy in violation must be severely punished as a lesson to the other goyim.
After over 30 years at York University as a student; research assistant and staff member, certain individuals within my own department (who also had me disqualified as one of the 9 Staff nominees for election to the Board of Governors) working with hateful (but legal) outside special interest/lobby groups, conspired to get me fired based on lies and false information that they provided a “reporter” who wrote an inflammatory article personally attacking me; the views of our President and the University… 🙁
Hi Nick, your response to my repeated requests for comment were too late for my publication deadline which I also indicated numerous times. I’ve been looking to contact you for a follow up to the article but you left me an email address that does exist (my emails are bouncing from that address). I’m replying here because that seems to be the only way to reach you.
