Robbery on Pond Road leads to an investigation from Toronto Police

Toronto Police are currently investigating a robbery that occurred September 27 on campus.
The robbery, which occurred at 6:15 a.m., happened on Pond Road near Hoover Road.
A community member was approached by three male suspects and robbed, according to a security bulletin. He was put into a head- lock, his pockets were searched, and his iPhone was stolen. The suspects then ran towards the Rexall Centre and got into a small black car. The victim member didn’t suffer any injuries during this incident.
The incident was reported to York Security at 4:15 p.m. that afternoon. Detective Sergeant Al Coulter says the incident was initially reported to the wrong police divi- sion, so the police were notified of the incident too late.
“We were just disappointed because we weren’t contacted directly, and it’s not York’s fault or York’s Security’s fault it’s the victim’s,” says Coulter. “If they don’t report to us right away, we get it when we get it.”
Coulter says there have been no updates on this case as of yet. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Toronto Police Services at (416) 808-2222.
