On September 20, a female student was sexually assaulted at York’s Glendon campus when she was returning to Hilliard residence after an event in the campus cafeteria.
The incident happened at 1:30 a.m. when the female was asked for assistance by a male who is described as a white male with skinny build, dark features, and a British accent.
Police have not yet provided a follow-up to the incident, but York security posted numerous bulletins in both English and French to keep Glendon students aware.
Glendon is letting students know the security measures are the same at both campuses and that extra precautions are made for this case.
In addition to 24-hour police presence, GoSafe, and the Resi- dence Watch Officers located at nearly every building on campus, Glendon provides free walking and driving escorts between parking lots and buildings every evening between 6:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m.
Janice Walls of York media reminds students that officers at Glendon are bilingual and present for times of need.
Glendon students are urged to check their email and the secu- rity bulletins for additional safety information and resources.
Any students with information regarding this incident are asked to contact Toronto Police directly at 416-808-2222.
