York administration released a security bulletin on September 6, informing the community of a sexual assault that occurred on campus during orientation week.
The sexual assault took place on September 6 at 1 a.m. and occurred during a Stong College outdoor frosh event.
A female York student was approached by a male in a dark hoodie at Stong’s Pit Party. He then began dancing with her and proceeded to sexually assault her by touching her in an inappropriate manner.
The suspect is described as male, between five-foot-two and five-foot-seven, with olive/tanned skin, approximately 18 to 20 years old, medium build, and 150-160 pounds with a piercing on his lower right lip. He was wearing a black zip-up hoodie along with a brimmed hat and mirror black sunglasses.
Joanne Rider of York media says York continues to try to adopt a culture of safety on campus. The school aims to reinforce what constitutes acceptable behaviour in orientation activities. Last week’s “You Had Me at Consent” presentation is an example of these efforts.
Sergeant Detective Al Coulter says Toronto Police are still looking for the suspect and that there has not been any new information regarding the case since the initial security bulletin was released.
