The Chancellor’s Room held a photo exhibition with pieces from around the world to bring awareness to global issues.

The exhibition, called Corners of the World, was hosted by Love Your Neighbour and was supported by Light and Love Home.

“The theme is ‘Corners of the World,’ and so the purpose of this is to try to raise awareness on what’s happening on the other side of the world; the world that we don’t see,” says Love Your Neighbour president Christy Zhou. “The photos are taken by different people and not one person, and are not focused
on technique but rather on the content.”

Each year, Love Your Neighbour organizes a team of its members and sends them to help developing countries to help out and provide a safe environment for children to play and learn. This photo exhibition is a result of the photos that the members took while they were providing assistance in these countries.

With photos ranging from Nepal, Madagascar, South Africa, Zambia, the Philippines, Fiji, Indonesia, and Honduras, these photos serve to provide what each country represents while also showing the problems that need to be addressed.

“I heard about this club early on in the school year. I knew I wanted to join a student club, and I thought the best type of club I could join is one that wants to
do good things for the community,” says Stephanie Berry, a first-year member of Love Your Neighbour. “It’s been fun, I met a lot of good friends, and I feel like I really helped out the community and made good use of my free time.”

So what comes next for this organization?

“We will continue to provide charity services,” says Zhou. “We want to reach as many as we can because we believe we are our neighbours’ keepers. We will continue to do humanitarian work.”

The photo exhibit began March 12, and will be continuing for the rest of the week in the Chancellor’s Room in the Student Centre.
