Toronto Police Service is currently investigating three robberies on campus, all of which were committed by suspects of similar description and tactics.
The first incident occurred on Feb. 11 shortly after 6 pm Two suspects approached a male student on the southeast side of Scott Library, where one of them attempted to steal the victim’s cell phone and the other displayed what the victim described as a handgun underneath his shirt. The student fled and was pursued by the suspects, both of whom eventually fled north.
Later that evening at approximately 6:20 pm, a male student was approached by two suspects on Ottawa Rd. by Founders residence and robbed of $145 in cash. According to the victim, one of the suspects showed him what looked like a handgun in his pants.
The third incident took place at approximately 7:15 pm A male student was robbed on the south side of Vanier residence. Two suspects approached the victim and stole $30 in cash and a cell phone before fleeing south toward the York Lanes Parking Garage. One of the suspects told the victim that he was armed with a handgun, but did not reveal the weapon.
In all three incidents, the suspects were similar in description. One of the suspects is described as a black male, approximately 16 to 20 years of age, five-foot-nine of average build, 150lbs and wearing a dark jacket with ‘Falcons’ inscribed on the back with a red or dark-coloured hoodie, dark pants and white running shoes at the time of the incidents.
The second suspect was also a 16- to 20-year-old black male, six-foot-one,” with a thin build; he was also wearing a black hoodie. Both suspects partially covered their faces with a scarf or bandana.
Toronto police spokesperson Constable Wendy Drummond confirmed the investigation is ongoing and security camera footage of the incident has been seized.
