The Lions’ men’s soccer team trounced the Laurier Golden Hawks in a 4-0 win.

The Lions started off by dominating possession of the ball in the first half, the first goal coming from a drive by defender Paramvir Sekhon.

Adrian Pena added to the Lion’s early lead in the eighth minute with a second goal, until Sekhon headed in the third goal in the 29th minute.

The Lions entered the second half with a 3-0 lead, and the Hawks made attempts on the Lions’ goal, trying to nick a goal.

However, Lions’ goalkeeper, Sotiri Varlokostas, fought back to earn a clean sheet, as the Hawks 63rd-minute shot on goal just missed the crossbar.

But Mark Anthony Kaye, rookie midfielder, capitalized on the Lions’ advantage by firing the ball past the Hawks’ keeper Brett Harrington, and scored their fourth goal of the game.

Head coach, Carmine Isacco, who has been with the Lions for five years, commented on his outlook for the rest of the season, saying, “Our expectations are high. When we go, we want to win every roll of the ball.”

The Lions return to face the Waterloo Warriors on September 2 for their second game of the season.
