When you first walk into Richtree Market, you are greeted by the enchanting smell of fresh food and mesmerized by the unique European style of a French market. It is always buzzing with diners wandering around from food station to station selecting dishes that match their very appetite at the moment. It is the only restaurant where diners can serve themselves right on the spot and eat as much as they want using a Richtree credit card, which totals everything you bought and no tip to add.
There are several delectable items at Richtree, one of the most highly recommended is the traditional Swiss Ro?sti, which is made with Yukon potatoes and resembles a potato latke. The potatoes are shredded and crisp and the first bite always melts in your mouth like butter.
It is the perfect indulgence for any first timers.
Their thin-crust pizza is a popular choice as well. Crunchy after being baked in a wood stove, the dough is perfect for toppings you’d like to add. Restaurants like Richtree, the variety of toppings is always something to take pleasure in.
If you’re a seafood lover and enjoy your fruits de mer, Richtree has fresh Prince Edward Island mussels to fulfill your cravings. They are mixed with vegetables and a sauce of your choosing.
But what is a restaurant without its dessert? After your meal, there is a large of selection of desserts: bread pudding, apple crumble and ice cream to name a few.
One of my personal favourites is the chocolate mousse, which is offered in both white and dark chocolate. It is served in a ’50s-style sundae ice cream dish and garnished with either a piece of chocolate or fruit, usually a cherry.
As York University students, we are always looking to save money, which is why the monthly specials at Richtree is something we can all celebrate. It is the perfect way to try something new at a reduced price.
There is a wide selection at Richtree and it’s not your traditional restaurant service. If you’d like to try something new, Richtree is definitely the place to start.
