Vanessa Hunt spent the better part of December planning the 2011 Winter Week events with the York Federation of Students (YFS), and is ready to host many events over the new semester.
First on the docket: present free waffle and coffee breakfasts to welcome students back to campus after the holiday break.
“It’s been very great,” said Hunt, YFS v-p campus life. “[We’ve] been talking to people on the floor and waiting in line,” she said about the Jan. 10 waffle breakfast. “People really appreciated it, especially since it’s so cold in Vari Hall.”
The events, some of which include movie nights, pub nights and ski trip excursions to Blue Mountain, are drawn out from Jan. 10 up until March 30.
Hunt says the scheduling was done so that it could give every student a chance to engage in YFS events.
“We wanted to spread them out over the semester, so that people with different schedules can participate,” she said. “Students are getting back into the groove […] we wanted events that are enjoyable.”
