On March 7, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., York will be holding its sixth annual multidisciplinary Undergraduate Research Fair in the Scott Library Collaboratory on the second floor. The event will consist of an award ceremony of monetary prizes and a reception following the Fair.
There will be a showcase of undergraduate research, work, and an art exhibition, the Art Walk, will lead spectators to the Fair with an array of student art and design work.
This multidisciplinary event is open to all communities, thus, an emphasis is made on presentation in plain language, so that everyone understands the project’s purpose.
The Fair is co-sponsored by York libraries and the Office of the Vice President, Research, & Innovation.
The 2018 undergraduate research fair welcomes applicants from all York faculties, including Glendon.
This is a great opportunity to gain valuable presentation experience or artwork exhibit credit, receive a signed certificate honouring participation in the university’s juried Undergraduate Research Fair, earn a chance to win a monetary award, and a chance to have work published on the cover of York e-journal, Revue YOUR (York Online Undergraduate Research) Review.
Revue YOUR Review is an annual, multidisciplinary, open-access, bilingual, and refereed e-journal, offering an opportunity for York students to prepare a paper for publication.
All submissions are reviewed by an editorial board comprised of York faculty members, writing instructors, librarians, students, and expert readers within the discipline. The journal’s licensing falls in line with that of Creative Commons, which governs the author’s licensing rights.
Students are encouraged to start filling the application forms as soon as possible, submitting a graded, research-based project or honours thesis prepared between December and January.
Applications must also include a 250-word abstract, and “the work must have been completed for an undergraduate credit course and have received a grade of B+ or higher,” says Barbara Joy of York’s Media Relations. The deadline is January 28 by midnight.
