Early birds get the bookworm – an analysis of bird courses

Aside from the courses required in an academic program, students have the freedom to choose courses that they are interested in as a part of their electives. Many students often look for the so-called “bird courses.”
Bird courses are common among students looking to get that easy A without much effort. Bird courses are basically courses that are so easy that even a small bird could complete, metaphorically speaking.
“These are easy courses that students take to relax their mind from the other major degree requirement courses they may have,” says Archie Machkalyan, a third-year chemistry student.
“They exist because it is relative to students’ capabilities,” he adds.
According to Machkalyan, he took ECON1000, Introduction to Microeconomics, which he found easy as all the tests were multiple choice and these helped him boost his GPA to get out of his academic probation status.

“You have to put in a little work, contrary to popular belief,” says Shira Lichtenstein, first-year nursing student.

The existence depends on the origin of the opinion. Some people may need to exert in a little effort than others, she says.
Nevertheless, while a grade point average is important and course fees are expensive, students should pick the courses related to their future career path, especially if graduate school is put into the equation.
University is about increasing your intellect, building on knowledge, and learning content that is interesting to you. Unless you are truly passionate about the content of the course, think twice about taking a bird course. And when you do, spend essential study time on the bird course as you would with a regular course. A shining A+ can be achieved.
