The York Lions will play the Brock Badgers on Nov. 26.
Men’s Hockey
Forward Chad Hohmann scored the winning goal Nov. 20 against rival Ottawa Gee-gees for a final score of 4-3 over their opponent. The score was tied 3-3 in the third period after a power play goal by opponent Kyle Ireland. At the 12-minute mark, Hohmann received the pass from teammates Jesse Grespan and Chris Jones to take the lead and win the game. Along with Hohmann, forward Jesse Messier and defencemen Matt Thomson each scored a goal, contributing to their team’s fifth victory of the season. York sits in last place in the Western Division. The team will play the Ryerson Rams next on Nov. 25, looking to move up in the standings.
Men’s Volleyball
The York Lions’ men’s volleyball team captured their second win of the season Nov. 21 as the team defeated rival Ryerson Rams 3-1. Rookie hitter Ray Szeto led the scoring for the Lions with 14 kills over his opponent and helped give his team the lead in the second set. Teammate Felipe Humana-Paredes was also key to the Lions’ success as the third-year middle hitter helped push the lions to victory with the match winning point. Humana-Paredes finished with seven blocks and leads the Canadian inter-university men’s volleyball for most blocks with 24. The team is now tied for sixth place in the standings and will face top opponent Guelph Gryphons, tied for fourth in the standings, in the next match of their season.
