The Absinthe Pub throws down the "spook" this Halloween

Halloween at The Ab is set to be a hit this Wednesday.

Picking just one Halloween party to attend on campus can be a little overwhelming. To make the decision easier, the Winters College Council decided to hold their annual Halloween Pub Night at the Absinthe Pub, this October 31.

Mila Bordt, the Vice President of Social and Cultural Affairs at the WCC says you can count on walking into the Ab and seeing some really smart and insane costumes this year.

“Winters is a very artistically influential college” says Bordt. “Because it’s Winters, those who attend pub night tend to have the most creative costumes.”

Bordt says that there have many cases of people finding romance at these parties, as she notes that those looking for a princess, cowboy or Miley Cyrus won’t be too hard.

“If you’re lucky, you’ll probably meet a filmmaker who will cast you in his next short, or a musician to sweep you off your feet, or maybe a dancer who knows how to move” says Bordt.Aside from the obvious romantic connections at the Absinthe, there will also be prizes for best costume, couples costume, and scariest costume.

And while this Halloween at the Absinthe is all about having fun, Bordt adds that these sorts of events are essential to the university experience.

“You might feel obliged to have alcoholic beverages because it is a bar, but thrusting yourself into a close knit social environment like that is just another tactic to make connections” she says.

“This is a great opportunity to come out to your local pub with your friends and show off your costume.”

Juhi Nandy, director of promotions for the WCC, assures first-year students, or underage students – that going to a pub doesn’t mean you have to drink to have a good time. Nandy says that students can grab non-alcoholic beverages including milkshakes, which she claims are the best on campus.

From residence students to commuters, the Ab sees them all.

Nandy adds that the Absinthe sees a great balance between residents students, commuters, and people from Toronto who just love the pub. “Even if students miss out on this Halloween night at the Ab, the WCC has many more fun events up their sleeve that are bound to help students get involved and make new friends.” says Nandy.

So grab a friend, get into character, and head over to the Absinthe and see where the night goes from there. You might find that boo-tiful girl of your dreams.
