A brief, half-hour power delay affected Keele campus due to a power delay from the local Bathurst power station.
The outage, which took place shortly after noon, caused approximately half of York’s Keele campus to lose power. It resulted in a brief blackout to colleges and residences.
Wallace Pidgeon of York media says the blackout was not due to TTC construction, but rather a problem related to Toronto Hydro. Hydro was quick to respond to the blackout and resolved the issue within an hour.
“It created some sort of delay, 30 minutes or so. […] Apparently it’s the third power outage in eleven days,” says Pigeon. “It had nothing to do with the construction on campus and nothing to do with the subway or TTC.”
Pidgeon says that York worked directly with Toronto Hydro to ensure that power was restored and colleges and residencies experienced minimal inconvenience.
