Female student allegedly gave chase to washroom intruder

Just two weeks after female students reported a man peeping on them in women’s washroom stalls, a similar incident has been reported at Steacie Library.
Two female students in the women’s washroom outside Steacie Library reported a man spying on them. A Steacie Library employee confirmed that the incident happened at about 9:20 p.m., and that York security was called to the scene. A lot of people, she says, got up and ran out of the library when they heard screaming and banging coming from the halls.
“There were apparently two girls in the bathroom at that time, and they both noticed that there were male shoes [in one of the stalls],” said N.K., a student and witness who wished to remain anonymous. “[One of the students] noticed when she went back in that he was in a different stall. So then she went back outside, and she was waiting for him to leave.”
According to several unverified reports, one of the female victims gave chase and ran after the Peeping Tom.
“She didn’t catch him though,” says N.K. “He really did run off. It was really scary to be in the library, there’s someone yelling and screaming [for] help.”
When Excalibur went to investigate on-scene, one of the four washroom stalls were found to have been locked from the inside, leading on-scene reporters to believe the Peeping Tom purposely locked one of the middle two stalls in order to crawl underneath the other, and ultimately corner whoever used either of the end stalls.
Toronto police were contacted and confirmed having been dispatched to the scene. As of publication, York security denied comment.
“We’ll know about the details soon,” says Wallace Pidgeon of York media.
